Good evening Lioness,
For years I’ve wanted a nice corset but I could never justify spending the money, until now. When it finally arrived I couldn’t resist taking a photo to show it off. It’s so heavy and sturdy, just having it in my hands is a wonderful feeling. I feel strangely powerful with it on.
Yours,

You look absolutely dashing in it! The color of it mixed with the richness of your sheets makes me think that someone is in for a very long enjoyable night!

Rules: In a text post, list 10 books that have stayed with you in some way. Don’t take but a few minutes, and don’t think too hard—they don’t have to be the “right” or “great” works, just the ones that have touched you.

I was invited to do this by rainyprincejellyfish

I. The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling - The first book literally taught me to read, if anyone is curious I can tell that story…

II. A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket - These books are like…  really formative for my style and a lot of how I coped when things got bad.

III. Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelse - I read this book at a time in my life when I was filled with anger, it touched my heart and gave me the mental tools to rid myself of that anger before I rotted from the inside out.

IV. The Giver (And the three companion novels) by Lois Lowrey - I love them, The Giver was the book that set me off into my love of dystopic fiction

V. The Ender/Bean Saga/Series by Orson Scott Card - Ender’s game was another book that came into my life at a rough time (I’ve had a lot of those…) and it filled a need that I didn’t know I had.  It also shaped a lot of my leadership skills.

VI. Cry of the Icemark by Stuart Hill - I don’t know why this book means so much to me but I must have read it a million times when I was about eleven and hundreds of times since then…  I loved it and I always will

VII. The Earth Children series by Jean M. Auel - The first thing I ever masturbated to, the book that gave me the GENDERS (made me question the gender binary, gave me the first set of words that I used to describe my gender, made me feel good about my gender feels), better than any sex ed book

VIII. First Test (and every other Tortall book) by Tamora Pierce - I didn’t get to most of these until later in life but…  More books that fueled my habit of basing personal beliefs off of books.

IX. The Inheritence Cycle by Christopher Paolini - Just… so good…

X. The Shadow Children series by Margret Peterson Haddix - I love these books so much, my mom and I read them together and they mean a lot to me.  I should really reread them again…

God this list was hard…  I forgot every book I’ve ever read as I was writing it.

I tag…  YOU.

queerpotters:

what if harry had been sorted into slytherin though

  • sarcastic bastard and no need to pretend otherwise
  • learning the names of people outside your immediate circle of friends??? please
  • usually overdramatic, sometimes morally grey
  • sirius having to deal with the fact that his godson is a slytherin. a slytherin. james potter’s son is in slytherin. remus can you believe this
  • bezzies-by-circumstance with draco malfoy with all the highlights including a) earth-shattering fights, b) someone brazen enough to curb draco’s nastiness, and c) someone unimpressed enough to tell harry to get a fucking grip and stop being so self-righteous all the time potter you frilly whingebag
  • (and a friendship with harry/draco reluctantly getting roped into his cause could have changed a whole buncha shit for the malfoys and all that Malfoy Joins the Order With Snape fic of ‘03-‘05 could have come true)
  • speaking of, a head of house/student relationship with snape might have saved his character from being entirely reprehensible
  • challenging the wizarding public’s views of slytherin house by pitting their ridiculous prejudices against their blind all-consuming love for/faith in harry
  • quirrell was a ravenclaw and wormtail was a gryffindor [insert harry’s sarcastic one-liner about all the witches and wizards who went bad being in slytherin here]
  • jkr putting her money where her mouth is re: “we’ve all got both light and dark inside us, it’s our choices who make us who we truly are” by putting the boy who lived and eventual saviour of the wizarding world in the ~evil house~
  • or even better she could have established slytherin as the ~evil house~ and then dismantled that completely by showing harry surrounded by loving, caring people forced to choose between standing beside their friend harry or supporting voldemort’s/their parents’ cause
  • harry’s group of friends torn in two by their parents’ ideology and their loyalty to harry and what they’ve seen to be true while sharing a home with hundreds of halfbloods and muggleborns
  • and then members of slytherin house fighting tooth and nail against the people who raised them because harry potter just has that effect on people
  • all resulting in an eventual about-face in people’s attitudes towards slytherins
  • and when harry has kids they’re proud at the thought of being sorted into slytherin house because their dad was a slytherin and he saved the fucking world

If you like the sound of this, you’ll love this fic I read recently called "Cunning and Ambition"

It was abandoned in the sixth book due to a lack of reviews but it’s still totally worth the read.

Our of curiosity, how many of our lovely followers are polyamorous?

-Jack

ME! Or, at least, I think I am… I get a LOT of crushes and stuff all at once and I know I wouldn’t have an issue with a poly relationship but I have no good relationship expirience so…

This was meant to be a quick warm up, but it turned into a comic that I’ve wanted to draw for a while. This is something that is extremely important to me, and I appreciate it if you read it.

A while ago, I heard a story that broke my heart. A family went a cat shelter to adopt. The daughter fell in love with a 3-legged cat. The father straight up said “absolutely not”. Because he was missing a leg. That cat was that close to having a family that loved him, but the missing leg held him back. Why?!

Many people have the initial instinct of “nope” when they see an imperfect animal. I get it, but less-adoptable does NOT mean less loveable. 9 out of 10 people will choose a kitten over an adult cat. And those 10% that would get an adult cat often overlook “different” animals.

All I want people to do is be open to the idea of having a “different” pet in their lives. Choose the pet that you fall in love with, but at least give all of them a fair shot at winning your heart.

Don’t dismiss them, they deserve a loving home just as much as any other cat. They still purr, they still love a warm lap, they still play, they still love you. Trust me, next time you are in the market for a new kitty, just go over to that one cat that’s missing an eye and see what he’s all about!

I WOULD ADOPT ALL THE CATS EVER IF I COULD

John Legend - You & I (Nobody In The World)

They are young and old, cis and trans, straight and queer, in sickness and in health, and they come in countless colors, shapes, and sizes. They are women, and for four minutes and 15 seconds, John Legend pays them the basic respect that half the world’s population is routinely denied.

It is not a revolutionary video — at least, it shouldn’t be. Deceptively simple in form and function, You & I uses only a progression of medium shots of individual women. Presented with their totality, the differences fade away, and we are left with the fact that before anything else, women are simply and unignorably people.

That this is hailed as a radical political statement shows the sad state of our culture. But it makes such simple statements all the more important to make.

I need to watch this when I get home

It’ll make you tear up if you’re one to tear up

WHY DID THIS MAKE ME CRY
